Bila dibandingkan dengan canopus hasil vcd vegas menang di warna sedangkan canoppus menang di lembutnya gambar, dan software ini menduduki peringkat 3 software vediting terbaik di dunia (no 1 avid, no 2 mac final cut pro) (saya lupa menurut website mana), software ini juga mampu mengedit audio dengan baik, saya rasa kemampuan mengedit audionya tidak bisa dibandingkan dengan software video editing lainnya. Jika anda memiliki efek2 tambahan seperti boris fx, atau magic bulet (di avid juga ada, tinggal didownload di www.vasst.com ) yang bisa bikin warna film seperti film layar lebar (walaupun tanpa magic bulet, vegas punya kemampuan untuk membuat efek sangat mirip dengan magic bullet secara manual dengan teknik alpha channel (multiply), dan color corrector), atau bahkan ultimate S, saya rasa software ini sulit ditandingi kecuali oleh avid.
Software ini memiliki kemampuan untuk melakukan teknik alpha chanel (mirip photoshop), hampir sebagian besar media (*.Psd, *.cda, *.aif, dll) bisa diimpor oleh vegas termasuk dat dan vob, padahal kalo di software laen kita mesti merename extensionnya dari dat/vob jadi mpg dulu. Dan apa yang saya pelajari selama 2 tahun di premiere pro bisa dilakukan oleh vegas, saya hanya perlu 3 bulan untuk belajar vegas,karena software ini user friendly, kalo gak salah saya pernah liat di tv (trans TV) proses dubbing film ninja boy juga memakai sony vegas(5.0) .untuk produksi dvd sony juga memiliki dvd architect yang sangaatt bagus, keluarga sony mediasoftware antara lain sony acid pro, software buat bikin lagu2 mixing contohnya lagu2 madona, dan lainya, sony movie studio, dll.
